Jennilyn Aston - Ten-year journey
B.S. Liberal Studies
Klamath Falls, OR
What does completing your degree mean to you? How do you feel it will improve your life and career?
It has taken me over ten years to get to this point, and I have filled those years with hard work and determination. I have worked and supported myself throughout college. My efforts were renewed at the birth of my son, as I was filled with resolve to set the best example and provide the best life possible for him. Walking across the stage to accept my diploma represents the culmination of my efforts and persistence. I intend to continue my academic and intellectual pursuit in law school this fall, so this diploma has become a stepping stone for the rest of my life.
Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?
I knew that I could push as hard as I could in order to excel. I needed to remain at work, so studying at night and while my son slept was imperative.
Did you have an instructor or adviser who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student?
Two instructors stand out in my mind: Madronna Holden and Brent Steel. Their classes were organized and insightful and their feedback was sincere, swift and helpful.
What will your Ecampus degree allow you to do that you were unable to do before?
It allows me to go to law school! I am thrilled at the prospect of continuing my education and changing my life.
