2009 Ecampus Graduates
Erin Bell - No limit
B.S. Liberal Studies
What does completing your degree mean to you? How do you feel it will improve your life and career?
Completing my degree after all these years has taught me that there is no limit to what I can do. There may be obstacles placed in front of me, but by taking initiative in overcoming them, I can do anything.
Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?
Earning my degree was a 10-year process. I graduated from high school in 1999 assuming that I would earn my bachelor's degree within the following four years. Life has a way of throwing you off track. I never thought that I would finish school because I worked full time and didn't have the option of working less to go to school. With OSU Ecampus, I was finally able to reach my academic goals while working full time.
What I loved most about being an Ecampus student was the flexability that it provided. The ability to study where and when you wanted to, rather than being tied down to a traditional course allowed me to live life and earn a degree.
Did you have an instructor or adviser who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student?
All of the instructors through OSU Ecampus were wonderful in accommodating students through this non-traditional program. The most influential instructor I had was Wallace Sanborn. I took numerous English courses with him. What excited me about his method of teaching was his continual use of the discussion boards. Because he was constantly responding to our discussions, he created an environment that provided deeper understanding of concepts and the support we needed.
What will your Ecampus degree allow you to do that you were unable to do before?
With my Ecampus degree I will be able to be in control of my life. If I decide that I want to go into management where I work, that door is now open for me. If I decide that I want obtain a master's degree, I am one step closer. I have the necessary key to open many doors previously locked for me.
