What does completing your degree mean to you? How do you feel it will improve your life and career? Obtaining my Bachelor's is a huge accomplishment for me. I will be the first in my family to do this. After getting out of high school no one would have guessed that I would go on to college. My grades left a lot to be desired but after a short time in the military I realized that I did in fact want to continue my schooling. I feel that this degree will improve my life by allowing me to make much more money than I otherwise would.

Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?  I chose to complete my degree online through OSU extended campus because I wanted to go to OSU and my wife got a job across the state in Ontario, OR. Extended campus was the obvious solution and after I got used to being more disciplined in my school work it became a great option. I will admit that adjusting to the new set up was difficult but I really like being able to make my own schedule. I also liked this method of learning because in many of my classes there were people doing projects from all over which gave greater diversity to my learning.

Did you have an instructor or advisor who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student? My advisor Marge Victor was always willing to help me with any problems I encountered and was great for transferring class credits from other colleges into my degree.

What will your Ecampus degree allow you to do that you were unable to do before? My Ecampus degree will allow me to be much more competitive in the jobs that I have been applying for and will allow me to apply for higher paying jobs than before. I am looking for jobs with government agencies and to get the jobs I want it is required that I have at least a bachelors. I would not have a bachelor's degree if it were not for distance courses because I would not have stayed away from my wife for long enough to finish school in Corvallis. Being able to take distance courses also allowed me to travel while still attending college and even volunteer with potential employers. This could only be accomplished because of the flexible hours provided by distance courses.
