2012 OSU Ecampus graduates

Jill Busby – Ecampus opens a door where one was once closed

B.S. in Liberal Studies
Walnut Creek, Calif.

What does earning your OSU degree mean to you?
It's been a long time coming. I went to a school immediately after high school that I loved, only to have it close before I could finish my degree. I've been to many schools since then searching for that same fit. I didn't find it until I found Oregon State. I've loved my experience and it means everything to graduate from a school that made it possible for me to graduate from a school that I'm proud to attend.

Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?
I had started my career, so there was no way I could move for school again. Then I found Oregon State's Ecampus. It was a dream come true. I could continue living my life right where I was, AND enjoy a quality academic experience. It's been wonderful to have both.

Did you have an instructor or advisor who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student?
Professor Mamta Accapadi was a joy. She understood me, the way I learned, and how passionate I was about my beliefs. She fostered my desire to achieve academic success without compromising who I am. She even sent me articles that she thought would be relevant to me. That's above and beyond!

What will your Ecampus degree allow you to do that you were unable to do before?
Having this degree under my belt would be a confidence-booster. I'm already doing something that I love, but it would help me take it a step further. I can get my master's degree feeling as though I have the solid academic foundation to succeed!
