Ecampus’ Templeton appointed as chair of UPCEA’s management and innovation team

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The University Professional & Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), the leading organization for universities engaged in professional, continuing, and online education, has selected Lisa L. Templeton, Executive Director of Oregon State University Extended Campus (Ecampus) to be the Chair of the UPCEA Program Management & Innovation Network.

The Network is one of six UPCEA Networks that provide professional development, research and information, networking and communication, and awards and recognition of excellence in their practice areas.

UPCEA CEO Robert Hansen praised Templeton for her leadership in the association.

“Lisa has distinguished herself for several years by actively supporting and building UPCEA programs, and her appointment as chair of this Network shows the confidence we have in her,” he said. “She is one of the rising stars of UPCEA.”

Templeton has been an UPCEA member for 12 years and has served in numerous roles such as Region West Awards Chair, Futures and Markets Commissioner, Region West Conference Coordinator, Outreach and Engagement CoP Chair Elect, and has presented at numerous conferences.

“I am honored to be named to lead the Program Management & Innovation Network,” Templeton said. “I plan to strengthen the connections between continuing education/online education professionals and share best practices and ideas that will help all of us.

“These Networks will provide a vital professional home for university professional, continuing education, and online educators,” Templeton added. “Once developed, the Networks will offer what educators value: professional development, research and information, networking opportunities, and recognition of excellence.”

As the Executive Director of Oregon State’s (Ecampus) since 2008, Templeton oversees a program that has developed and delivered more than 800 credit online courses in over 90 subjects and this year has had more than 11,000 learners enrolled in online courses from every state and 30 foreign countries. Ecampus is part of OSU’s Division of Outreach and Engagement.

Templeton has been with OSU Extended Campus since 2000. She has been an active member of the Division of Outreach and Engagement Executive Team and Cabinet since 2008 when the Divison was formed and was Co-Chair in leading the development of the University Outreach and Engagement Strategic Plan. She also has served as the OSU Ecampus Director of Marketing and Communications. In this position, she directed the intake of new online and continuing education courses and program development, market research and marketing planning and implementation.

Templeton holds a B.S. from the Ohio State University and an Ed.M. in Adult Education from Oregon State University.
