Oregon State’s online bachelor’s programs earn 4th straight top 10 ranking from U.S. News

Driven by the expertise of its faculty and an award-winning faculty development program, Oregon State University has been named one of the nation’s 10 best providers of online education for the fourth straight year by U.S. News & World Report. In a report released today, Oregon State Ecampus is ranked No. 6 out of more than 350 higher education institutions in the category of Best Online Bachelor’s Programs.

Big questions need big answers. That’s our strong suit.

It was a fundamental question in search of a much-needed answer: How can distance students in introductory biology courses online learn to operate a microscope without being in a physical laboratory? The simple answer was that they couldn’t. So Oregon State fixed that problem by developing a first-of-its-kind, 3-D virtual microscope that increases student access to learning and eliminates a barrier to degree completion.

Ecampus ranked #1 in U.S. for online liberal arts education

Oregon State is the best university in the nation when it comes to delivering a high-quality liberal arts education online, according to a new ranking released last month. Oregon State’s College of Liberal Arts offers 11 bachelor’s degrees and two master’s programs online through OSU Ecampus, the university’s distance education division.

Oregon State University, was ranked in the top 10 nationally by U.S. News & World Report for the third consecutive year. Oregon State Ecampus, the university’s online education division, is ranked eighth out of more than 300 higher education institutions in the category of Best Online Bachelor’s Programs.

There’s not much Vanessa Rutherford can’t do. She’s a 4.0 agricultural sciences student, a decorated airman in the United States Air Force and an active volunteer in her Missouri community. And last week, half a continent away, she was celebrated in Corvallis as a winner of the Waldo-Cummings Outstanding Student Award. “I¹m just lucky that I enjoy learning and the Air Force and OSU reward that type of behavior,” she says.
