The Master of Education (Ed.M.) is for licensed K-12 teachers who want to advance their teaching profession through a rigorous and applicable academic program with networking opportunities. Teachers use their classrooms as labs to add to the body of knowledge in the profession and enhance pedagogy. The goal of the program is to facilitate the professional growth of teachers as informed practitioners, reflective researchers and educational leaders.

The online Master in Education is a 45-credit degree program offered entirely online for the convenience and accessibility of practicing teachers worldwide.

Learning outcomes and goals

The program Curriculum encompasses a rigorous academic program, powerful networking experiences and creative scholarship toward expertise for practicing teachers in three domains:

  • Informed practitioners - Construct and implement curricula that reflects understanding of the learning process and actualizes subject matter to make it comprehensible to all students; assess teaching practices and student progress to support high levels of student performance.
  • Reflective researchers - Construct theory about teaching and learning and synthesize with educational research to improve instruction.
  • Professional leaders and advocates - Engage in professional leadership in the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning and that of colleagues, schools, districts and states.

Ideal applicants are licensed teachers who have completed a teacher's preparation program and are looking for additional educational coursework in assessment, teacher leadership, action research and research-based instruction.
