Fisheries Management Graduate Certificate - Online

FishermanThe College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences and the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife now offer an online certificate in Fisheries Management in cooperation with Ecampus.

This multidisciplinary 18-credit graduate certificate program identifies effective solutions to complex fisheries management challenges at both local and international levels.  It is also the nation's first fisheries management certificate to be offered online.

Program overview and benefits

As the commercial fisheries sector becomes increasingly competitive and complex, the OSU Ecampus online fisheries management program helps professionals meet the demands and regulations of sustaining fisheries on both national and international fronts. Participants will acquire and practice skills in biology, economy, law and social science as they deal with issues that impact and cross a wide range of perspectives and disciplines.

The program will prepare students to be the link between scientists, decision-makers and stakeholders when handling the multi-faceted issues that come with managing commercial fisheries.

The Fisheries Management Graduate Certificate - Online explores Curriculum in a variety of areas emphasizing critical-thinking, problem-solving and implementation.

Participants

Designed to accommodate the needs of fisheries students as well as private, industry, agency, non-governmental organization (NGO) professionals and decision-makers, participants will find they will be able to instantly apply techniques learned in Fisheries Management courses to complete their daily work activities, including the emerging areas of rights- and ecosystem-based fisheries management.

Fishery Waterfront Applicants must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university and a 3.0 GPA in their last two years of undergraduate study. Preferably, students interested in the online Fisheries Management Graduate Certificate will have at least two years of experience working in a field or organization related to fisheries management. International students from non-English speaking countries will need to meet OSU's TOEFL requirements.

Convenient online delivery

The Fisheries Management Graduate Certificate is delivered online by OSU's experienced Fisheries Management faculty. Online course delivery allows fisheries management students and professionals to access assignments, lectures and other learning materials on their own schedule while still balancing work, family and personal commitments.
