Take the first step toward a career that will make an impact
Ecampus Environmental Sciences majors can now choose Environmental Conservation and Sustainability as their specialization option in their degree plan.
This option provides students with a curriculum plan within the Environmental Sciences major that is specific to their interests and career goals in maintaining environmental and ethical consciousness while conserving our valuable natural resources.
As the human population continues to grow and as expanding technology puts an increasing strain on ecological support systems, there is increasing concern over the resulting effects of this on the environment in which we live. In this new option, students will understand the complexities of prioritizing conservation and sustainability issues and maintaining natural resources without negative consequences.
Sustainability can be defined as the confluence of three components: environment, economics and society. Environmental Sciences students who select this option will be exposed to these three aspects of sustainability so they will be able to engage in the on-going discussions of sustainability in both political and scientific communities. By investigating and understanding the cultural, political and institutional forces that are driving change in today's world, students in this option can effectively address sustainable ecosystem issues.
