These are some of the important policies governing the completion of the Natural Resources degree.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites provide the necessary background for specific courses. Students may attempt a course without having completed the prerequisites only if they have obtained the consent of the instructor to do so. Prerequisites recommended for the Natural Resource curriculum include College Algebra (MTH 111) and Introduction to Microeconomics (ECON 201). Some Breadth courses and Specialty Option courses also have prerequisites. You should review future courses carefully and plan ahead to meet prerequisites.
Double-counting coursework
Students may use classes from the Baccalaureate Core to fulfill requirements in the NR Core, Breadth and Specialty areas. However, courses may not be double-counted among the NR Core, Breadth and Specialty areas. For example:
(1) GEO 101, 102 or 201 can be used to fulfill the Baccalaureate Core Physical Science requirement and the NR Core Earth Science requirement. It could not then be used to fulfill any other requirements.
(2) FOR 365 can be used to meet the Contemporary Global Issues Synthesis requirement and the Forestry Breadth requirement.
(3) RNG 355 can be used to fulfill either the NR Core Water Science or the Land and Water Breadth requirement, but not both.
Academic policies
1. Forty-five of the last 75 credits of a student's program must be OSU courses.2. Students need a "C - " or better in upper division NR Core and NR Breadth courses.
3. Two S/U courses are permitted in the NR program.
