The Getting Started Checklist
Are you ready for school to start? Here is a checklist of the essential (and helpful) tasks you need to complete in order to have a successful term.
After completing this orientation, you should have:
- Logged in to Student Online Services
- Learned about other important services at OSU
- Printed or saved documents and bookmarked any websites that you want to reference in the future (including the orientation itself, if desired).
Next:
- Contact your advisor for an appointment if you don't already have one scheduled
- Ask any questions you may have
- Register for classes
- Set up your ONID email account (you have to wait up to 6 hours after you register before you can set up your ONID account)
- Buy a planner if you don't already have one, to record course assignments, deadlines, and exams
Before the term starts:
- Double-check your course schedule
- Order your course materials (remember to allow time for shipping.)
- Look for the Getting Started letter from Ecampus, either in the mail or via your ONID email. This letter includes helpful information, including a copy of the current terms' Academic Calendar and the fee schedule for dropping/withdrawing from a class after the term starts.
During the term:
- Routinely check your ONID email
- Login to Blackboard daily. (You will not see that you are registered for any courses in Blackboard until the instructor activates the course or the term begins.)
- Look for your eBill notification through your ONID email. This should arrive within the first two weeks of the term.
