Liberal Studies Advising & Student Services
Advising for Liberal Studies majors is provided by the College of Liberal Arts Advising Office. You must meet with an academic adviser to discuss the liberal studies major as well as baccalaureate core and liberal arts core.
Liberal Studies Advisers
Your Liberal Studies advisers are Kerry Thomas, Ashleigh Stubblefield, and Mary Chuinard. Your adviser will be assisting you through the process of reviewing your academic record and working with you to develop your academic plan so that you will be a successful OSU Ecampus student. We look forward to talking with you.
Making an Advising Appointment
Contact our office at 541-737-0561 or liberalarts@oregonstate.edu to make an appointment with your adviser. To call toll free, call Ecampus at 800-667-1465 and ask to be transferred to the Liberal Arts Student Services office. We offer advising appointments over the phone or via skype for distance students.
Note: Please make your initial advising appointment as soon as possible after finishing this online orientation.
When Should I Schedule an Advising Appointment?
It is best to schedule an appointment early on in the term. One way to remember when to schedule an appointment is to call on or around the following days:
- Halloween (Oct. 31st)
- Valentine's Day (Feb. 14th)
- IRS Day (April 15th)
- May Day (May 1st)
Advising Tips
- Have an updated copy of your transcript available during your advising appointment.
- Have an idea of the questions you would like to ask your adviser. Be thinking about goals (graduation by a certain time, internships, etc.) and write down any questions you might have.
- Review your schedule of classes. Write down classes you are interested in taking.
Make a list of your other commitments (For example: sports practices, work, internships, family responsibilities, etc.). This will keep your plan on a realistic schedule.
Please visit the Liberal Studies website and the College of Liberal Arts Student Services website for more information about the program, how to use advising, frequently asked questions and more.
