Career Fairs and Online Events

Our career events, such as career fairs that happen in Corvallis every term and draw hundreds of employers from across the Northwest and the nation, are open to students from any OSU location. You can find these events, as well as online panels and webinars on Handshake under “Events.”

Career Drop-Ins and Advising Appointments

For Career Assistant (peer-advising) appointments: Meet with one of our peer advisors for resume reviews, interview prep, or other general career questions. Use Handshake to schedule a peer advising appointment for general resume and career topics. Drop-in appointments available Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Kerr A110.

For Career Advisor (AD) Appointments: Use Beaver Hub to schedule appointments with your college-specific career advisor (look for the assigned advisor under the Success Team tab. Both virtual and in-person appointments are available.

  • If students need assistance or do not see a Career Advisor listed, they can contact career@oregonstate.edu or drop by Kerr A110 and our staff will help them make an appointment.

For Alumni: We support students for a full year after they graduate. Alumni can use Handshake to schedule career appointments with a Career Advisor or Career Assistant.

For College of Engineering Students: Use the COE page to book your engineering-specific appointment.

  • To make an appointment, log in to Handshake using your Oregon State email.
  • Click on "Career Center," then click on "Appointments."

Online Career Tools — Résumés, Interviewing and More

Here is a summary of some of the online resources we offer and what they do. These are available for free, any time, to any student.

  • Job Board, Appointments and Events: You can use Handshake for nationwide job searching and applications, to make phone appointments with a career advisor or to register for career webinars and other events.  

  • Virtual Résumé Reviews: Use Vmock for instant, personalized feedback on your résumé or CV. It is a résumé reviewing tool that uses machine learning and natural language processing to provide you with great résumé help. More information on Vmock and other resume, CV and cover letter tools.

  • Career Exploration: Focus 2 allows you to take a free online career assessment. Explore careers, job outlook and your working personality.

  • Interviewing Practice: Use StandOut for interviewing practice on an interactive video platform. Respond to questions from Oregon State faculty and staff and improve your interviewing presence. 

  • Working Abroad or in the U.S.: GoinGlobal provides a worldwide job board as well as country-by-country application guidance. Or if you are an international student wanting to identify employers for post-graduation work in the U.S., check out the H1-B visa application database. 

OSU-Cascades Students

Visit the OSU-Cascades career development website for information on OSU-Cascades career advising services, online tools and resources, events and other career readiness skills. OSU-Cascades students are also welcome to attend career expos and events at other locations such as Corvallis.

Portland Center and Newport

Students spread out across Oregon have access to online tools, are welcome to attend any career events and have access to phone appointments with career advisors through Handshake. Find more information on the Division of Student Affairs Services by Learning Location page.
