Paper Proofing Student Guide

What is NetTutor?

NetTutor is a comprehensive online tutoring service for all levels of college courses.  Oregon State University Ecampus has elected to make this service available to you.  Your tutor at NetTutor can help you by reviewing the papers for your course. All of our paper reviewers are highly trained experts in the course that you are taking.

We're ready to help.

You can reach NetTutor from the "Communications" link in Blackboard.  What are you waiting for?!

I logged in to Blackboard.  How do I reach my tutor?

  • Click the "Courses" tab and select the course you need help in.
  • Click "Communication" in the left navigation field.
  • Select the NetTutor communication tool from the list.
  • Your NetTutor home page for the course will open in a separate browser window.
  • Click "Paper Center" and click "Submit your paper", fill out the Paper Center Submission Form, and browse to load your paper from your computer.

What will the tutor help me with?

Whether it's grammar, organization of your ideas in writing, or the correct formatting of citations, our tutors can help you out.  Be sure to tell the tutor what the assignment is on the Paper Center Submission Form.  Once your paper has been reviewed, you will receive an email notification.  Returning to the Paper Center, you will find the reviewed paper, a summary of remarks about your writing -- always available to you when you log in to NetTutor.

By the way, be sure to double-space your paper so we can insert our comments.  Be prepared to seriously improve your writing!

Can I print out the reviewed paper?

You can print out each page of a reviewed paper by clicking "Print" -- you can print the summary form by holding down the Control key and pressing "P".

Will it work on my computer?

The NetTutor Paper Center works on almost any browser.  After you log in, you will be prompted for a Browser Test consisting of seven steps to confirm your computer's compatibility with  NetTutor, and to tell you where to find anything you may be missing.  You may try the Browser Test directly by visiting http://www.nettutor.com/browsertest

What if I need more help?

Should you have any questions or technical difficulties, click the Customer Service Request link and fill out the form.  Your issue will be addressed promptly.  There is a comprehensive Online Manual that includes an extensive frequently asked questions section, which can be found at http://www.nettutor.com/usermanual
