OSU launches new Oregon Master Naturalist online course
What is Oregon Master Naturalist?
The Oregon Master Naturalist Program is for people interested in Oregon's natural history and natural resources management. The program provides an opportunity to learn about natural resources such as:
- Natural history of plants, animals, habitats, and geology
- History and processes of landscape change
- Relevant topics in present-day sustainable natural resource management
The next Oregon Master Naturalist online course starts on March 5. Registration is now open.
Training options
Option 1: Online course (register)
- This option is for those students who will not join the Oregon Master Naturalist Program as volunteers and would like to take this course for their own personal or professional development.
- Complete approximately 40 hours of instruction and receive a Certificate of Oregon Natural History.
- Cost: $325
Option 2: Online course and volunteering (register)
- This option is for those who would like to become an Oregon Master Naturalist.
- Complete approximately 40 hours of online instruction and complete a minimum of one Ecoregion Specialization, an in–person course taught at various locations in Oregon. Specialization classes are posted at tracker.oregonmasternaturalist.org.
- Commit to a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer time in the first year. Additional yearly volunteering and continuing education are required to maintain certification.
- Participants volunteer to serve natural resources programs, agencies, organizations, and other groups in their communities.
