The new 19-course Wood-Based Composite Science Short Course Series provides career professionals with a fundamental knowledge of wood as an engineering material in the manufacture of wood-based composites. Students who complete courses from the series may be eligible for a Certificate of Mastery and will be able to improve manufacturing efficiency and product performance, troubleshoot processing problems and enhance their value to their employer.
Oregon State University has partnered with the Wood-Based Composites Center and the Oregon Wood Innovation Center to develop an in-depth instructional program to assist technicians, managers and support personnel for career advancement in the wood-based composites industry.
Courses are taught by experts in the field of wood science and technology and have been selected from top universities, government research labs and industry. Online delivery allows for instructors to utilize valuable resources from the nation's top agencies and institutions to enhance your learning experience.

Online course format and Certificate of Mastery
The Wood-Based Composite Science Short Courses are hosted in OSU's Blackboard (Bb) Learning Portal System. The courses are integrated and build upon each other to provide a logical progression as participants transfer newly-acquired skills to the workplace. Available courses are self-paced and can be started at any time to help you balance your career and other responsibilities.
Each course includes five to 10 hours of instruction and costs $300. Once started, each course must be completed within five weeks. Participants who receive a 70 percent or above on the course final exam will receive a certificate of completion.

Registration for the three courses listed above is ongoing. Register now or fill out our Information Request Form to join our mailing list to be notified when new courses are available and when registration opens.
Note: Registration is valid for five weeks, after which time a student must re-register and submit a new fee.
More courses will be added throughout 2009-2010 to complete the 19-course series.
