The Oregon State University Ecampus Research Unit (ECRU) is in the business of conducting innovative research on online teaching and learning.

In recognition of its efforts, ECRU was recently awarded the 2018 UPCEA Research and Scholarship Award for its pioneering research on instructional designers.

UPCEA, the association for professional, continuing and online education, nationally recognizes researchers and departments that create significant new research with implications for professional practice in the field of continuing higher education.

This award focuses on ECRU’s research that offers a better understanding of how instructional designers are using and engaging in research on teaching and learning in their current roles, what previous training they have received in research methods and design, and whether they feel prepared to conduct research on teaching and learning in their current roles.

The award emphasizes the value of research as an essential characteristic of the profession of continuing higher education, and Oregon State University Ecampus is honored to lead in the field of research in online learning.
