Paying it forward to benefit Native American students

Luhui Whitebear has been closely connected to Oregon State University’s Native American Longhouse Eena Haws in different ways during her academic career. While pursuing an anthropology bachelor’s degree online with Oregon State Ecampus, she would drop in whenever she came to campus to pick up books. Now, as assistant director of the Eena Haws, she is paying forward the guidance, nurturing and sense of belonging she received as a student.

Faculty excellence helps OSU earn another top-5 national ranking for online education

For the third time in six years, Oregon State University is ranked as one of America’s five best providers of online education by U.S. News & World Report. In the rankings released today, Oregon State Ecampus is No. 5 out of more than 350 institutions in the category of Best Online Bachelor’s Programs. OSU was ranked third last year and has placed in the national top 10 every year since 2015.

French online instructor creates an active, effective learning environment

Learning a new language can be a rewarding experience. But it also implies taking risks, being vulnerable and sometimes working through confusion and frustration. It’s with this understanding that instructor Ana-Maria M’Enesti develops French online courses for OSU Ecampus. “I create my lessons and assessments with a compassionate approach, aiming to encourage deep learning through meaningful interactions,” she says.

Building a sense of community among online Native American students

The college experience is difficult for many first-generation students to navigate. When you add distance learning to the equation, it can be so overwhelming that underrepresented students often drop out or are too apprehensive to even start. At Oregon State University Ecampus, Marleigh Perez is dedicated to changing that experience for students who learn online. She supports and advocates for Native American students who learn online with OSU.
