For Oregon State graduates like Lisa Frasieur, becoming versed in multiple communication methods and technologies offers a leg up in an increasingly global job market.<\/p>\n<p>Collaborating with classmates in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ecampus.oregonstate.edu\/online-degrees\/undergraduate\/business\/?utm_source=ecampus-news&amp;utm_medium=affiliate&amp;utm_campaign=student-instructor-engagement&amp;utm_content=20190107\">business administration\u00a0<\/a>program online helped Lisa refine her professional communication skills \u2013 even after two decades in the workforce near Eugene, Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a great experience being able to connect with students using video conferencing and phone calls,\u201d Lisa says. \u201cIt was just a different way of interacting with people, and I think it really helped me polish and brush up even my professional skills, because there are so many times when you are communicating with people at different locations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For many nontraditional distance students \u2013 who aren\u2019t physically on campus alongside their classmates \u2013 reaching out to peers, instructors and advisors for support presents a reminder that they aren\u2019t alone in the challenges and accomplishments along the path to a degree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur instructor encouraged us to meet up with other Ecampus students in our area,\u201d says Cara Sugg, an <a href=\"https:\/\/ecampus.oregonstate.edu\/online-degrees\/undergraduate\/anth\/?utm_source=ecampus-news&amp;utm_medium=affiliate&amp;utm_campaign=student-instructor-engagement&amp;utm_content=20190107\">Ecampus anthropology\u00a0<\/a>alumna from Charlotte, North Carolina. \u201cAt the time, I was living in Seattle and I met up with my Spanish partner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a blast and it truly felt as though we had been sitting in a lecture hall together for the past eight weeks.
