A groundbreaking online biology lab series is having a major impact on Oregon State’s distance students, and it’s the reason\u00a0Dr. Andrew Bouwma and Dr. Genevieve Weber today received the Innovation in Online Credit-based Teaching Award from OSU’s Division of University of Outreach and Engagement.<\/p>\n

After six months of research and development and a yearlong 3D animation project, Oregon State last spring launched a series of three biology courses online that effectively puts a microscope in the hands of every distance student. Bouwma and Weber were the faculty members at the center of this academic breakthrough, working in partnership with OSU Ecampus and the departments of Integrative Biology and Plant Pathology in the College of Science.<\/p>\n

They were honored as part of the O&E division’s Vice Provost Awards for Excellence<\/a> ceremony. The award is given to those who have pioneered an innovative approach to the design or execution of teaching online.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
