Longtime Oregon State Ecampus Associate Provost Lisa L. Templeton is the new board president of the University Professional and Continuing Education Association.<\/p><\/div>\n

Under the leadership of Lisa L. Templeton since 2008, Oregon State University Ecampus has established itself as a national leader and innovator in the field of online education.<\/p>\n

Now the OSU Ecampus associate provost is using her experience to impact institutions of higher education internationally in her new role as president of the board of directors of the University Professional and Continuing Education Association<\/a>.<\/p>\n

UPCEA is\u00a0a leading organization for universities engaged in professional, continuing and online education. It boasts more than 400 institutional members throughout the United States and countries such as Australia, Canada, Egypt, England and Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing elected to serve as UPCEA board president is an honor, and I\u2019m proud to help advance the association\u2019s goals while continuing to advocate for adult learners everywhere,\u201d said Templeton, who assumed her new role in April. \u201cThis is a great opportunity to meaningfully collaborate with the outstanding, innovative UPCEA board members and staff and other higher education thought-leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n

With a focus on quality at Oregon State, Templeton leads units whose collective mission is to provide adult learners in Oregon and throughout the world with access to transformative educational experiences online. Ecampus serves nearly 13,000 exclusively distance students in more than 60 countries, delivering nearly 100 programs and over 1,700 classes online.<\/p>\n

The division of Ecampus also encompasses the Ecampus Research Unit<\/a>, the Open Educational Resources Unit<\/a> and the Corporate Education Unit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLisa and the Ecampus staff have made the quality of Oregon State\u2019s online programs and the support of distance learners the centerpiece of their work,\u201d said OSU Provost Edward Feser. \u201cTheir goal is to help the university take early and full advantage of emerging technologies, pedagogies, and approaches to credentialing so that we\u2019re serving learners\u2019 needs first and foremost. I know Lisa will bring the same creativity and innovation to her tenure as UPCEA board president.\u201d<\/p>\n

Templeton joined Ecampus in 2000 as the director of marketing and communications. She became executive director in 2008 and associate provost in 2017. She has been a UPCEA member for 22 years and previously served as chair of its Network Senate and its Program Management and Innovation Network.<\/p>\n

\u201cLisa has distinguished herself for more than two decades by actively supporting and building UPCEA programs, and she continues to play an integral role in the success of how we serve our member institutions,\u201d UPCEA CEO Robert Hansen said. \u201cAs board president, Lisa will demonstrate a great deal of integrity, judgment and dedication to the mission of online learning and its potential to transform institutions by expanding access.\u201d<\/p>\n

Templeton holds a B.S. from the Ohio State University and an Ed.M. in Adult Education from Oregon State. As an adult and lifelong learner, she has earned leadership and management credentials from Penn State University, Arizona State University and Oregon State.<\/p>\n
