CORVALLIS, Ore. \u2014 Oregon State University and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory have launched a new collaboration that gives the research and development center\u2019s nearly 10,000 employees expanded access to high-quality and more affordable learning opportunities online.<\/p>\n

The agreement provides eligible LLNL employees and their spouses<\/a> with a tuition scholarship and other student resources, enabling the laboratory\u2019s workforce to advance in their careers, especially in the areas of science and technology.<\/p>\n

LLNL is a global leader in scientific innovation, applying cutting-edge research to solve complex national and global challenges. By collaborating with Oregon State, LLNL employees can further their education through OSU\u2019s nationally ranked online programs delivered online by OSU Ecampus.<\/p>\n

\u201cOregon State University is at the forefront of innovation in the areas of science, technology and research,\u201d said Lisa L. Templeton, vice provost of Oregon State\u2019s Division of Educational Ventures. \u201cBy working with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, we are creating new opportunities for professionals to gain advanced knowledge and skills that drive discovery and make a positive impact on a global scale.\u201d<\/p>\n

Providing more affordable access to Oregon State\u2019s high-quality online programs \u2014including a vast array of STEM offerings \u2014 is an example of how LLNL values employees\u2019 growth.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Oregon State delivers more than 120 degrees, certificates and microcredentials online<\/a> through Ecampus, the university\u2019s online education enterprise. OSU is consistently ranked among the nation\u2019s best providers of online education, and its online learners have access to comprehensive support services, including academic advising, student success coaching and career resources. And they learn online from expert OSU faculty, including those who are advancing research in fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, engineering and sustainable energy.<\/p>\n

Albert Diaz<\/a>, a cybersecurity team lead at LLNL, earned his computer science degree online from Oregon State. He said the support and encouragement he received from OSU faculty contributed to his success.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe instructors are really involved and care about our education, and when they\u2019re willing to put in the work, it helps me want to put in the work,\u201d Diaz said.<\/p>\n

The LLNL workforce features multidisciplinary teams with a wide variety of skills, experiences and professional backgrounds. Providing more affordable access to Oregon State\u2019s high-quality online programs \u2014including a vast array of STEM offerings \u2014 is an example of how LLNL values employees\u2019 growth.<\/p>\n
