(A new copy of the latest publisher\u2019s edition runs nearly $250.)<\/p>\n<p>So as a senior instructor and the lead advisor in Oregon State University\u2019s Department of Microbiology, Bruslind authored an open textbook that covers all the pertinent material and helps students meet the desired learning outcomes. And because <a href=\"http:\/\/library.open.oregonstate.edu\/microbiology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it\u2019s freely available online<\/a> to learners online at OSU and worldwide, she says that now all students in her class are accessing it.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more about how Oregon State faculty members can <strong>adopt<\/strong>, <strong>adapt<\/strong> or <strong>author<\/strong> an open textbook on the <a href=\"https:\/\/open.oregonstate.edu\/\" rel=\"noopener\">OSU Open Educational Resources Unit website<\/a>.
