George is a former Fulbright scholar and early-career fellow of the Network of Excellence in Technology Enhanced Learning, a European Union Initiative. His research has been dedicated to understanding the practices and experiences of learners, educators, and scholars in emerging\u00a0digital environments. In particular, he studies online social networks, open scholarship\/education, and emerging technologies. He is the\u00a0author of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/products\/9781138822757\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social Media in Academia:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Networked Scholars<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Routledge, 2016), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Online learning:<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Emerging Technologies and Emerging Practices<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Athabasca University Press, in press), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Emerging Technologies in Distance Education<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Athabasca University Press, 2010), and\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Learner Experiences in MOOCs and Open Online Learning<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Hybrid Pedagogy, 2013). Individually and collaboratively, he has also published more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and given more than 100 talks at conferences and events worldwide.
