COUN 567 – Assessment and Appraisal in Counseling (3)

Investigates historical perspectives of assessment and testing, basic concepts related to types of tests and measurements, and statistical concepts relevant to assessments. Surveys assessment, appraisal, and various types of instruments and procedures used by counselors in educational, career, psychological, and mental health settings. Examines the use of assessments for diagnostic and counseling intervention purposes. Develops skills in using assessments and procedures relevant to the practice of counseling across work settings. Examines ethical and multicultural issues and concerns in assessment. This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course.
