German Minor Requirements
The German online Minor requires a total of 30 credit hours. All courses are offered throughout the year, including Summer Session. Courses must be taken in sequence.
Total Credits: 30
30 upper-division credit hours to include the following:
Second-Year German
12 credits total (4 credits each)
Third-Year German
9 credits total (3 credits each)
Students work with materials addressing all facets of modern Germany, including but not limited to culture, cities, regions, society, the economy and education, utilizing real-life scenes on DVDs and accompanying texts with extensive vocabulary, as well as worksheets. Based on these materials, students write weekly essays.
German Culture and Literature
9 credit hours needed, any combination (3 credits each)
German Culture
Survey of German Literature
Students survey masterpieces of German literature from the Middle Ages through the 21st century. Literature samples are provided, along with vocabulary, fact sheets and recorded lectures.
Advising
In addition to notifying the Registrar's office, all language majors, minors, and certificate students must notify the department of their degree plans and meet with German Major/Minor advisor Christian P. Stehr.
