Prevention is the keystone of public health, and in Oregon State University's online Master of Public Health, you’ll develop the knowledge and credentials needed to thrive professionally and take on leadership roles informing public health action.
Designed for early to mid-career professionals who want to find novel solutions to complex public health problems, the online Master of Public Health program covers a broad range of topics, from health policy and health promotion to epidemiology and health systems. Program details
With an integrated approach to teaching and learning, the Master of Public Health online curriculum weaves together the fundamental public health disciplines in a manner that mimics public health practice, set in the context of 21st century public health challenges. You’ll work with your faculty advisor on a degree plan that works for you.
MPH students have up to seven years to finish the program; most students choose to finish in two to four years. You must take at least one course per term during the academic year (fall through spring).
The online Master of Public Health program is offered by Oregon State’s College of Health.

Additional program features
Internship
The MPH program's 4-credit internship is designed to provide you with an applied practice experience where you can demonstrate attainment of degree competencies. The MPH internship coordinator will support you throughout the internship experience.
State of Colorado: This program requires an internship. Although Oregon State University participates in the National Council of State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA), due to Colorado’s Workers’ Compensation Act, we have limited authorization to offer programs that require internships in the state of Colorado. The Colorado internship site must provide workers’ compensation. In some cases, a proposed internship site may not provide workers’ compensation insurance and, as a result, is not available as an internship site. Please contact Shannon Riggs, associate vice provost for educational programs and learning innovation, with questions.

This program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), the national accrediting body for schools of public health and public health programs.
Start on the pathway toward a master’s degree
Oregon State makes it possible for you to apply the credits you earn in OSU's online Graduate Certificate in Public Health directly toward the Master of Public Health. Up to 22 graduate credits may be transferred toward a 45-credit master’s degree.
Applying credits like this, an approach known as stacking, can help you build credentials over time and advance your career. It's also a great way to test a field of study through a series of courses before committing to a full degree program. For students like Ali Lanenga, stacking can make a journey to a degree feel more manageable.
Accelerated Master’s Platform
Get a jump-start on your Master of Public Health online degree while working toward your bachelor’s degree in public health. Through Oregon State’s Accelerated Master’s Platform, current undergraduate students can take graduate-level courses online that will be applied to their bachelor’s degree.
The credits you earn will be transferred to the online Master of Public Health program. Students enrolled in Oregon State’s online graduate courses will pay the graduate tuition and fees rate.
