OC 201 – +oceanography (4)

Introduces oceanography as an interdisciplinary science. Explores aspects of plate tectonics and the geological structure of ocean basins; the physical and chemical properties of seawater; large-scale circulation of the atmosphere and ocean; marine sediment properties and distribution; Earth history recorded in marine sediments; the carbon cycle in the atmosphere and ocean; and the ecology of marine organisms. Highlights current ocean-related research topics, many of which have direct impacts on humans. This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course.
