WLC 231 – +german Dictatorships: Nazis and Communists (3)

Explores the cultures of Germany’s 20th-century dictatorships: National Socialism or Nazism (1933-45) and East German Socialism (1949-89). Analyzes various primary sources with an emphasis on visual media (e.g., art and architecture, cinema, and graphic novels). Examines political, historical, ideological, and aesthetic aspects of the two regimes through various secondary sources with emphases on body politics (e.g., race/ethnicity, gender, ability, etc.) This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course.
