NMC 330 – The Meaning of Video Games (3)
Explores history and trends in the electronic games industry. Compares various game platforms, genres, strategies and theories. Studies game development processes and distinct roles within a development team. Analyzes video game story structure, level design, gameplay, character development, audio and interface. Proposes original game concepts. Creates maps and concept art. Examines representation of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and mental health in video games and the gaming industry. Modifies existing video games using game development software. This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course.
