PSY 381 – Psychology of Mental Health (4)

Provides an in-depth analysis of mental health challenges and clinical conditions introduced in lower-division coursework. Explores contemporary frameworks for understanding mental health across diverse populations; evidence-based theories regarding biological, psychological, social, and cultural contributing factors; an orientation to leading interventions; perspectives on neurodiversity and dimensional approaches to understanding mental health; and the impact of social determinants, marginalization, and systemic inequities on mental health. Emphasizes critical evaluation of empirical research, integration of lived experience perspectives, reduction of stigma, and culturally responsive approaches to supporting individuals and communities.
