COMM 428 – +Communication of Cultural Identities (3)

Explores the complexities and nuances inherent in cultural identities. Evaluates how cultural identities have been defined and researched within the field of intercultural communication. Examines ways in which systemic, macro-structures create broad contexts for how identities are experienced at the interpersonal level, beginning with personal reflection and then considering others’ intersectional identities. Emphasizes ways in which current scholarship in intercultural communication is working to dismantle racism and other –isms, such as sexism, heterosexism, classism, and ableism.
