MUS 454 – Introduction to Scoring Game Music (3)
Explores the core principles of composing music for games and interactive media. Compares the distinctive characteristics of game composing and how they influence decision-making at every stage of the compositional process. Provides practice in composing music, crafting unique sounds, and creating mockup templates for video games. Explores the creative process and tackles practical challenges of game music creation. Emphasizes scoring game music techniques from conceptualization to implementation and develops skills to troubleshoot, do experimentation, and work with diverse producers, music editors, and coders. Explores various approaches to maximize the effect of the music in game-based scenarios. This course is repeatable for a maximum of 6 credits. This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course. Check the offerings below for more information.
