ED 549 – Reading in the Elementary Classroom (3)

Provides a scientifically-based foundation in early literacy development, including essential components of reading, reading models, and effective teaching and assessment techniques for foundational skills. Emphasizes oral language, phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, and fluency, as well as research-based considerations for multilingual learners. Provides an introduction to reading difficulties and disabilities, including dyslexia. This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course.
