SOC 318 – Qualitative Research Methods (4)

Emphasizes how to read, critique, and conduct qualitative (non-numerical) social research. Builds on social research learned in SOC 315 and focuses on exploring various theories and methods unique to qualitative research. Provides exposure to examples of excellent qualitative research and writing and provides opportunities to hone research skills by engaging in various practical exercises, which may include field observations, interviews, focus groups, and content analysis. Develops writing skills by describing, comparing, and evaluating materials. This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course.
