WLC 241 – +Grimms' Fairy Tales (3)
Explores Grimms’ fairy tales in context along with a selection of popular adaptations through textual analysis and interpretation, with an emphasis on ecocritical approaches to fairy tales. Examines the perennial popularity of fairy tales as an opportunity to learn about the tales as a genre and create fairy tale adaptations for contemporary audiences that speak to and engage with contemporary issues—especially climate change and environmental justice—through discussion, guided research, written analyses, presentation, and creative work.
