ANS 315 – +Contentious Social Issues in Animal Science (3)

Examines the contentious issues seen in animal science including the role of animal products in human health, food security and climate change; the ethics of the use of hormones, antibiotics, and new animal biotechnologies; animal rights/welfare in relation to animal science and in specific instances of common management practices. Evaluates the environmental implications of livestock grazing on public lands. Critiques potential solutions/changes, weighing them against all sectors affected by each issue. This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course. Check the offerings below for more information.
