NMC 419 – Reefer Madness in the Media (3)
Critically examines the history of hemp and marijuana prohibition, issues of propaganda and the media's role during the transition between prohibition and the current state of reform. The purpose of this course is to better understand the role media plays in shaping our political, cultural and personal experiences. For students, this knowledge is invaluable for analysis, evaluation and critical thinking skills. The framework of this class is based on four modules: "History of Marijuana Prohibition", "Marijuana, Media and Culture", "Medicinal Marijuana Movement" and "Legalizing Marijuana Campaigns". This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course. Check the offerings below for more information.
