Hometown: Salem, OR Education: Bachelor of Arts Pronouns: she/her/hers/ella My higher education career started well before earning my bachelor’s degree, since I held various student employment positions during my time at Western Oregon University (WOU). In 2015, I started my first professional position in higher education in the Financial Aid Office at WOU. I enjoyed helping students navigate the intricacies of Financial Aid and demystifying the Financial Aid process. I left WOU to become an academic advisor at Chemeketa Community College. This is where my love of working with non-traditional students started. Some of the best student experiences I had were the times students shared more than their academic life with me. I value the life experiences non-traditional students offer and the different perspectives they have. I am a bilingual (Spanish), Latina, first-generation college graduate. In college, I was part of the TRiO program and resources like TRiO were vital in helping me earn my degree and navigate the higher education system. Due to this, I strive to be a resource and partner to the students I meet with. I believe students know what is best for themselves and therefore, understand that success is personal and as unique as each student is. When I’m not supporting students, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and crafting. The fiber arts play a major role in my creative life, particularly, quilting and cross stitch. I enjoy dancing to salsa and bachata music. I have a small family and enjoy spending time with them. I am a curious person and enjoy learning and trying new things. I look forward to being a part of your support network during your time with Oregon State Ecampus! |
