2009 Ecampus Graduates
Kevin Osborne - Best fit for career path
B.S. General Agriculture
When Kevin Osborne attended OSU's 2009 Commencement ceremony in June, he already knew the degree he had earned online through OSU Ecampus had paid off.
Two years before, Kevin met with his manager for his job as a technician in the agricultural industry to come up with a career growth plan. They decided that one of Kevin's best career steps would be to complete his bachelor's degree in agriculture.
After some research online, Kevin found OSU's online degree in General Agriculture.
"OSU Extended Campus was the first program that I found that offered an agricultural degree," Kevin said. "I looked around the website, liked how organized everything was and I really liked the class offerings. When I contacted my advisor at OSU, he was very helpful along with all of the staff, from the registrar's office to admissions."
While working in Eastern Oregon and traveling, Kevin found that working on his degree online was the best method to fit into his already busy life.
"What I liked the most about the program was that the instructors understood that we had other things going on in our lives and they worked with our schedules," Kevin said. "The classes were very flexible which made it nice especially when I had to travel and could not get an Internet connection. We could more or less work at our own pace, which I enjoyed very much and added to make the program a great experience."
Earning his degree has now allowed Kevin to be more competitive in the workplace and helped him reach the goal he set for himself two years prior.
"Upon completion of my degree and gaining some experience, I was awarded a promotion from a technician to a specialist," Kevin said. "To sum it up, this degree put me on road to success both in my career and in my life."
Now Kevin looks forward to the challenges he will face with his new job responsibilities and will use his experience with OSU Ecampus as proof that he can achieve any goal.
"This degree has also given me a sense of accomplishment that encourages me to continue on and embrace future opportunities and challenges," he said.
