Comparative International Agriculture – Online Minor

Explore agricultural concepts and practical experiences through global awareness coursework when you enroll in Oregon State’s comparative international agriculture minor online. The CIA program will prompt you to explore issues facing the environment, natural resources, agriculture, and food production and consumption.

Offered by Oregon State’s renowned College of Agricultural Sciences, this program delves into major agricultural themes and issues of nations across the world, examines information to determine key elements of agricultural trade agreements, analyzes the effectiveness of international agricultural practices, and investigates the impact of social, economic and environmental forces on the global agricultural industry.

Study abroad, do an internship or engage in other special projects

You have the exciting opportunity to evaluate current international agricultural issues by participating in a study abroad experience. CIA students are encouraged – but not required – to go abroad as part of the minor.

You may alternately engage in research, an internship or a special project that is relevant to international agriculture and/or cultural practices among non-U.S. agricultural practitioners.

Coursework

The online courses in the comparative international agriculture minor will broaden your perspective on agricultural practices worldwide. The curriculum will prepare you to serve in the agricultural industry with a deep understanding of issues facing the international agricultural industry and a capacity to make change.

You must earn 27 credits to complete the CIA minor, with the option of completing 12 to 18 upper-division credits and a maximum of 14 lower-division credits.
