Oregon State University Ecampus has been named the recipient of the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) Award for Excellence in Faculty Development for Online Teaching. Ecampus was honored “for delivering a comprehensive, responsive, flexible, and effective faculty development program that helps faculty take their online teaching to the next level,” the awards committee wrote.
This is one of the most prestigious awards given in the field of online learning. The OLC is the leading professional organization devoted to advancing the quality of online learning worldwide.
“Faculty development is an important part of what Ecampus is all about – partnerships, growth, continuous improvement, quality, and innovation,” said Shannon Riggs, the director of the Ecampus course development and training (CDT) team, which runs the faculty development program. “We invest a lot of time, resources, and energy into our faculty development program for one reason: It works!”
Oregon State Ecampus consistently ranks among the nation’s best providers of online education. The quarterly Developing an Online Course Workshop and annual Faculty Forum are cornerstones of the Ecampus faculty development program. Ecampus collaborates with more than 600 OSU faculty members, who teach more than 1,000 classes online in nearly 100 subjects from within 10 academic colleges.
