Oregon is rising fast as a national leader in the semiconductor industry — and Oregon State University is at the forefront of that momentum.

On a new episode of the popular “Techlandia” podcast, Tom Weller — the head of Oregon State’s School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science — shares how the university’s efforts align with state and federal priorities to drive innovation, workforce development and industry partnerships.

Presented by the Technology Association of Oregon, “Techlandia” is hosted by TAO president and CEO Skip Newberry. The show features conversations with leaders in tech and explores how emerging technologies are impacting Oregon’s workforce and economy. It also serves as a platform to advocate for the growth and success of the tech industry.

In this episode, Newberry and Weller discuss Oregon State’s developments in the semiconductor industry. OSU’s key projects stand out as innovative solutions that combine research and industry needs, with emphasis on AI applications and workforce education to meet the projected growth in semiconductor demand.

Oregon State is a leader in emerging semiconductor research, education and collaborative initiatives with industry partners. OSU leads the Center for Design of Analog-Digital Integrated Circuits, the FAST Regional Innovation Engine for semiconductors, and the Corvallis Microfluidics Tech Hub. The university is also a partner institution of the Semiconductor Research Corporation and the Northwest AI Hub.
