Business Administration student gains personal confidence and professional skills
Not long ago, Toby Long constantly found himself trying to schedule work around his school schedule. He loved his job at Dutch Bros, and he wanted to move into a management position, but when it came to attending college on-campus in Sacramento, he just couldn’t get the flexibility he needed to keep moving forward at work.
Then Toby found Oregon State Ecampus. He was able to work toward his bachelor’s degree in business administration online without missing shifts or opportunities at work. When the business of life challenged Toby to keep going, he was able to persevere, thanks to his advisors, Ecampus success coach and his online community of fellow students.
And his persistence paid off. Throughout his time learning online with Oregon State, Toby connected with his instructors and classmates, despite never meeting any of them in person. He changed on a personal level, too, learning new communication styles, practicing technical skills and gaining perspective on how to best engage in professional settings – all skills that immediately translated into his work at Dutch Bros.
Toby’s goals have grown since his first term at OSU. He now dreams of owning his own Dutch Bros location, complete with great coffee and friendly faces. And Toby is prepared to turn that dream into a reality thanks to his Oregon State business administration degree. “I see it as something that I have in my back pocket and will give me a leg up against other people in the professional world.”
Toby figured out how to move up at work. Are you ready to do the same?
