French – Online Minor

Learn how to communicate in French

When you earn an online minor in French, you’ll learn to speak and understand the French language, while also enhancing your understanding of French and francophone cultures and values. 

Courses in this program are developed and taught by the same renowned Oregon State faculty who teach on campus, many of whom are native speakers and have received specialized training. Oregon State’s engaging online learning environment will provide you with the tools you need to build your language skills and be able to confidently interact with native speakers.

A key language in a globalized world

French is the official language in 29 countries and an official language of the United Nations, NATO, the European Union and the International Red Cross. Beyond being a beautiful language with a rich history, learning French can be extremely useful if you’re considering a career in international affairs, political science, economics, global business, agriculture or humanitarian work.

Coursework

Through this 33-credit online minor, you’ll sharpen your listening comprehension and speaking skills. You’ll also study French and Francophone culture, with options to explore French society through cinema, fashion and more.
