Learn how to communicate in German
German is spoken by more than 200 million speakers worldwide, and it is one of the leading languages of science, arts, philosophy and history. When you earn a minor in German online with Oregon State, you’ll develop your speaking, listening, reading, writing and cultural competency skills.
Courses in this program are developed and taught by the same renowned Oregon State faculty who teach on campus, many of whom are native speakers and have received specialized training. Oregon State’s engaging online learning environment will provide you with the tools you need to build your language skills and be able to confidently interact with native speakers.

Germany is a major language and country of our world — with the fourth strongest economy (after the U.S., China and Japan) and exports that constitute the largest share of total world trade (even ahead of the United States). Additionally, Germany is the second most important import partner of the U.S.
Coursework
Through this 36-credit online minor, you’ll sharpen your listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing skills. You’ll grow your intercultural competence and be able to understand the main points of clear speech, read texts with job-related language, and be able to interact on a project with others in German.
