New Media Communications – Online Minor
Examine how technology impacts the way the world communicates
Storytelling is as old as humanity itself, but the way we communicate changes constantly — and that’s apparent now more than ever due to emerging technologies. As a student in Oregon State University’s online undergraduate minor in new media communications, you’ll develop a deep understanding of the role media plays in society and the cultural changes that occur through content creation and storytelling.
This exciting minor takes an innovative approach to the study of mediated communications — that is, communications that rely on new media technology to get from the source to a consumer. You’ll learn the basics of digital communication arts with a focus on critical thinking, analytical skills and creative expression.

By examining new media’s influence on culture and society, you’ll enter the workforce with diverse and marketable abilities. Obtain skills related to digital marketing, analytics, developing a brand identity, media management, content creation, production and more.
Coursework
The online classes in the new media communications minor are designed to prepare you for a variety of careers in media and related industries. By completing a minimum of 27 credits, you’ll engage in opportunities to pursue a range of theoretical and practical courses in media.
