BI 363 – +Colonialism and Systemic Inequality in Conservation (3)
Explores how historical colonialism and racism influenced early conservation and the development and application of conservation policy and science. Examines the impact of conservation’s colonial history on present-day communities. Compares strategies for re-defining conservation success and incorporating local communities, knowledge, and values. Emphasizes approaches to removing structural barriers to diverse participation in conservation and conservation careers. This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course. Check the offerings below for more information.
