COUN 576 – Diagnosis and Treatment: Applied Psychopathology and Psychopharmacology (4)

Explores the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders as defined by the DSM classification system. Emphasizes principles and practices that relate to child and adult psychopathology, DSM diagnostic criteria, etiology and assessment, systematic treatment planning, interviewing, and short- and long-term interventions. Acquaints counseling students with the fundamentals of psychotropic drugs, the basics of pharmacology, adverse effects, indications, and drug interactions. This course may be subject to Enforced Prerequisites that restrict registration into the course. Check the offerings below for more information.
