In our increasingly interconnected world, building cross-cultural skills is an important part of almost every career and discipline. Learn how to effectively think about global issues and broaden your cultural responsiveness when you earn an Undergraduate Certificate in Global Learning online from Oregon State University.
This program includes a mix of online coursework, study abroad and/or language learning, providing you with a greater understanding of global cultures, economies, political systems and international relations. By the time you complete the program, you’ll be able to skillfully interact and communicate across cultures and demonstrate an active awareness of your own identity as it relates to others.

Program details
In this program, you’ll gain knowledge of global systems and experience interacting in international contexts. The online courses you take will enable you to compare and evaluate your experiences and how they are impacted by critical frameworks related to race, gender, class and other categories.
The online global learning undergraduate certificate program is delivered online in partnership with Oregon State’s College of Liberal Arts.
Certificate requirements
A total of 27 quarter credits are required to earn your global learning certificate. Curriculum details and certificate requirements are available on Oregon State’s academic catalog.

Experiential learning
To complete the global learning certificate, you’ll participate in an intercultural experience. Studying abroad is one of the many ways you can fulfill this requirement, and OSU Global Opportunities provides a variety of opportunities to fulfill this requirement. Once you’re admitted to the program, work with your academic advisor to design an experience that’s right for you.
You can also meet this requirement by demonstrating language proficiency through a placement test, transfer credit or by completing the second year of a language at Oregon State or another accredited institution.
Please note that your intercultural experience, including demonstrating language proficiency, does not count toward the 27 credits that are required to complete the certificate.
Prerequisites
Depending on your educational background, you may need to complete additional coursework prior to enrolling in this program and taking the required certificate courses. We recommend that you evaluate this prior to applying for admission.
